Beer, Reimagined: Japan's Most Innovative Brews
When most people think of Japanese beer, they picture crisp lagers. This evening is something entirely different. Explore 10 extraordinary Japanese craft beers from four of the country's most innovative breweries — Kizakura, UCHU Brewing, Teenage Brewing and West Coast Brewing — across five guided comparisons. From matcha IPAs and Nagoya red miso lagers to fruit-loaded smoothie sours, pastry beers, modern sour IPAs and triple barrel-aged barley wine, each pairing tells a story of how Japanese brewers are rewriting the rules. This year’s event also features the first public showcase of Oops Sake in Australia, a playful experimental release from Iinuma Honke. Expect a rare side-by-side tasting of Kinoene favourites including Yawaraka vs Umakara, Nama Apple vs Kanjuku Apple, Daiginjo vs Junmai Daiginjo, Akenosora vs Oops Sake, and Nama Yuzushu vs Yuzuka.
