π₯Most great spirits are aged in barrels.
Guojiao 1573 is aged in the ground.
Luzhou Laojiao in Sichuan is one of China's oldest continuously operating distilleries, and Guojiao 1573 takes its name from the year its earthen fermentation cellars were first dug β cellars still in use today and protected as a national cultural relic. Sorghum, repeated fermentation cycles in living clay pits, and a strong-aroma (nong xiang) profile no barrel can imitate.
Aroma: Ripe orchard fruit and honey, with the pronounced ester lift the Luzhou style is known for.
Palate: Full and sweet-edged β layered grain, florals through the middle.
Finish: Long and warming, gently spiced.
This is not a spirit built for quiet solo sipping.
It's for the table β where Chinese banquet tradition meets four and a half centuries of unbroken cellar use.
Serve neat at room temperature in small cups, alongside food.
One of the most collected bottles in Chinese spirits.
