π―Most Japanese whisky whispers.
Far East of Peat does not.
Made at Wakatsuru's Saburomaru Distillery in Toyama β one of the few Japanese distilleries built around heavily peated malt β this blended malt was born out of collaboration between Japanese craft distilleries, and is released in small batches rather than as a standing line. Bottled at 50%.
Aroma: Thick peat smoke up front, tropical fruit sitting underneath.
Palate: Smoke that builds rather than announces itself, with sweet fruit and spice behind it.
Finish: Long, ashy and warming.
This is not a whisky built on restraint.
It's for drinkers who came for the smoke β where Islay intensity meets Japanese craft distilling.
Serve neat, or over one large rock to stretch the smoke out.
Released in batches. When a batch is gone, it's gone.
