🥃Most Islay whisky sits between 30 and 55 PPM.
Octomore 16.3 is 189.5.
Bruichladdich's Octomore series exists to find out how far peat can be pushed, and the .3 release is always the Islay-barley bottling. This one is made entirely from Concerto barley grown in a single field at Octomore Farm on Islay, aged five years in bourbon, Sauternes and Pedro Ximénez casks, and bottled at cask strength — 61.6%.
The wine and sherry casks pull against the smoke rather than surrendering to it.
Aroma: Dense smoke over dried fruit and sweet wine.
Palate: Enormous — peat, sweet oak and PX richness carrying serious weight.
Finish: Very long, smoke and sweetness arriving together.
This is not a whisky built for balance in the usual sense.
It's for drinkers who want the outer limit — where the most heavily peated malt made meets sweet-wine casks.
Serve neat. Add water if you want to — at 61.6% nobody is judging.
The bottling Octomore collectors actually chase.
