Matsui Single Malt Whisky Sakura Cask 700mL — Floral Oak, Gentle Power
🥃 This is Japanese single malt with a softer, more fragrant edge. Matsui Sakura Cask leans into delicate blossom-like sweetness, polished malt character and a fine thread of oak, giving it a profile that feels elegant, lifted and quietly distinctive.
Made by Kurayoshi Distillery under the Matsui label in Tottori, this single malt is matured in rare sakura wood casks and cut with the natural spring water of Mt. Daisen. That sakura cask influence is what gives the whisky its signature shape — floral, lightly sweet and gently aromatic, while still holding onto the malt and subtle bitterness underneath.
The palate is smooth, composed and easy to settle into. You get soft malt, restrained fruit, light spice and a more delicate wood influence than a heavier sherry- or peat-driven style. It feels refined rather than forceful, which makes it a strong fit for drinkers who like their whisky expressive but not overbuilt. At 48% ABV, it carries enough weight to feel proper while keeping that graceful, fragrant lift in place.
