8 Wired Whisky iStout 330mL — Barrel-Aged, Roast-Deep, Properly Warming
🍺 This is stout with extra depth and extra edge. 8 Wired Whisky iStout takes the brewery’s already weighty imperial stout and rests it in whisky barrels, pulling in oak, dried fruit and a warmer, darker kind of richness that feels made for slow pours.
Brewed by 8 Wired in New Zealand, this is a whisky barrel-aged imperial stout at 10.5% ABV in a 330mL can. The barrel time adds oak and dried-fruit character over the base stout’s roasted coffee, dark chocolate and bitter malt backbone, giving it more shape than a straight imperial stout.
The palate is rich and full, but it does not just lean on sweetness. Roast, cocoa and coffee come through first, then the barrel influence adds oak, warmth and a darker, rounder finish. It feels bold, layered and properly built for sipping rather than knocking back cold.
At 10.5% ABV, it drinks with real weight and warmth — bold enough for slow sipping, with enough bitterness to keep it from turning heavy.

Why We Like It
• Whisky barrel ageing gives it more depth than a standard imperial stout
• Roast, chocolate and oak all land clearly without muddling together
• Big enough for stout drinkers, still sharp enough to stay focused
• Strong single-can option for colder nights and after-dinner pours
• Barrel-aged character adds real interest without turning gimmicky
How to Serve
Serve it cool rather than ice cold so the roast, chocolate and oak can open up properly. Best in a small tulip or stemmed beer glass if you want the barrel character to show.
